Office application version does not match

Jul 17

I was reinstalling my Microsoft Office 2003 today as my laptop Windows Vista suddenly unable to boot into windows for no particular reason.  Check the event log and cannot find any error message.

After doing a recovery from the recovery media, I went to uninstall Microsoft Office 2007 Trial that came with my laptop and install Microsoft Office 2003.  However when I try to launch MS Word, Excel or even Outlook, I get the “Office application version does not match.” error.

Solution: I realised I forget to uninstall “Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007″ under Start -> Control Panel -> Programs -> Uninstall a program.  Went to uninstall and manage to remove the error.

Need help! I know NOTHING about computers and am trying to fix things on my own as best as possible. I experienced the problem above and did remove the “business contact manager for outlook 2007″ but I’m still dealing with a reocurring problem. Every time I open Word, Excel or Outlook I am prompted by the “MICROSOFT OFFICE END-USER LICENSE AGREEMENT” and each time, I have to ACCEPT. Any suggestion how to make this annoying message go away?

    Thanks for that. It worked.
One, of course, would think that the command ‘Uninstall” Office would indeed uninstall office. MS does it again with the wrong people being in charge of communicating with the rest of the world.

Getting error messages when trying to run the fix from MS. Tried uninstalling the BCM for Outlook as you suggested… Worked like a gem! Thanks!

Thanks for this, it’s a little piece of sliced gold! I’m such a dullard. I didn’t realise that BCM stood for Business contact manager until I read this thread…… d’oh!
