Wish to add my thanks. Works perfectly.
The “PCI system peripheral” device is something else which I haven’t figured out yet but this fixes the sound.

Yes, it doesn’t work as it always asks for a “PCI system peripheral” driver that it can’t find and there’s no way to find out which device this could be as there’s no info on Vendor and device ID.

I got the “error” (installer asking me to insert the Win98 CD) not just once but about 20-30 times, but I could only find a few of the files it wanted in the zip folder. When I restarted and opened Device Manager I saw that SB PCI(WM) was not installed correctly – it had a yellow “warning” icon. I tried to go to the settings tab to add the waveset and see if that could resolve it, but the tab said “You do not have sufficient security privileges…” I guess if I had the Win98 CD I originally used to install the OS I might be able to resolve this?
