Assemble my First ESXi Server

Finally after 5 months of saving up, I manage to purchase all the hardware that I need to assemble my first ESXi Server 3i 3.5.0

Below is the configuration of my ESXi Server 3i.

Make sure the hardware you getting is supported by the VMware. You can check the VMware Compatibility Guides

Main Component

  • Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E6750 @ 2.66Ghz
  • Asus P5Q Deluxe
  • 8GB Memory

Storage

  • Adaptec RAID 2405 4 PORT
  • 04 x WD Caviar Black 640GB (RAID 10)

Network Card

  • Intel Pro/1000 T Desktop Adapter

    Did the P5Q Deluxe work with ESXi4 using the motherboard SATA? or is this the reason you needed to use the seperate Adaptec RAID controller?
